A San Diego-area family is facing an unimaginable loss after 9-year-old Silvanna Moreno died hours after a dental appointment that had been expected to relieve months of tooth pain.
Silvanna was treated on March 18 at Dreamtime Dentistry in Vista, where reports say she underwent a lengthy dental procedure that included a root canal on a molar, a crown, and the removal of several decayed teeth. The appointment also involved sedation, a common but carefully monitored part of some pediatric dental care.
Her death has been classified as accidental, but the circumstances surrounding the procedure, her recovery, and the hours after she left the clinic remain under review.
What Happened Before and During the Appointment
According to multiple reports, Silvanna had been dealing with ongoing tooth pain for several months before she was referred for more extensive treatment. In the days before the procedure, her family reportedly said she had tooth-related discomfort, and her mother indicated that she had experienced a fever that was treated with children’s medication.
