Federal Judge Dismisses Michael Wolff’s Lawsuit Against Melania Trump, Sending Dispute Back to State Court

A legal dispute involving journalist Michael Wolff and First Lady Melania Trump has taken another turn after a federal judge dismissed Wolff’s lawsuit, describing the filing as an improper use of the federal court system and indicating the matter should proceed through the normal state court process.

The decision adds a new chapter to an ongoing disagreement centered on public statements, legal threats, and allegations of reputational harm.

Judge Criticizes Federal Filing

In her ruling, U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil stated that although a genuine dispute exists between the parties, the case was not appropriately presented for federal court review.

The judge characterized the lawsuit as an example of “tactical gamesmanship” and emphasized that the federal judiciary should not be used to oversee what she viewed as a dispute better suited for another venue.

As a result, the federal case was dismissed, allowing the underlying issues to continue through state court proceedings.

How the Legal Battle Began

The conflict originated after attorneys representing Melania Trump sent a legal notice objecting to statements made by Wolff and requesting that certain claims be withdrawn.

In response, Wolff initiated legal action, arguing that the threats of litigation were intended to discourage speech and create legal pressure on critics.

The procedural dispute over where the case should be heard ultimately led to its transfer into federal court before the recent dismissal.
