Roseland, Louisiana — Emergency crews have made significant progress in responding to a large industrial fire at an automotive supply facility in Louisiana. Officials reported Sunday that the fire is approximately 90% contained, though evacuation orders for nearby residents remain in place as a precaution.
The fire began Friday at Smitty’s Supply, an auto parts manufacturing facility located just north of Roseland, following an explosion at the site. Flames and heavy smoke prompted authorities to issue a mandatory evacuation within a one-mile radius of the plant.
No Injuries Reported, Safety Monitoring Continues
State officials confirmed that no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident. Louisiana State Police stated that air quality monitoring has shown either non-detectable readings or levels well below health-based thresholds, helping to ease concerns about potential health risks.
Despite the progress in containment, authorities are advising residents to continue avoiding the area until conditions are deemed fully safe.

Response teams are now focused on removing damaged structures and addressing remaining hotspots within the facility. Environmental crews are also working to prevent runoff or contamination near the Tangipahoa River and surrounding waterways.
