One calm spring morning, I opened my front door to let in some fresh air and was greeted by an unexpected scene. Tiny green insects were scattered across the doorstep, slowly moving in different directions as if discovering the world for the first time.
At first, they looked like small threads with legs. Looking closer, I realized they were baby praying mantises, newly hatched and only about the length of a fingernail. The brick wall beside my door seemed to ripple with movement as some clung to the surface while others made their way toward nearby plants.
