DOJ Files Denaturalization Case Against Former North Miami Mayor

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a civil complaint seeking to revoke the citizenship of former North Miami mayor Philippe Bien-Aime. Federal authorities allege that he provided false information about his identity and immigration history during the naturalization process.

According to court filings reviewed by NBC 6 South Florida, prosecutors claim Bien-Aime “willfully misrepresented” key details when applying for U.S. citizenship. The DOJ describes the matter as a denaturalization case, which is relatively uncommon and handled through civil court proceedings.
