Trump Administration Predicts Strong Economic Growth in 2026 — Economists Urge Caution

Senior officials in the Trump administration are projecting a sharp acceleration in U.S. economic growth in 2026, citing potential interest rate cuts and increased consumer spending as key drivers. While the outlook has drawn attention, many economists say sustaining such rapid growth would be challenging.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the U.S. economy could exceed 5% growth in early 2026 and approach 6% growth by the end of the year. If achieved, that pace would mark the strongest expansion since the post-pandemic rebound of 2021.
