Caleb Schwab was only 10 years old when a family outing ended in an unimaginable tragedy.
On August 7, 2016, Caleb was visiting Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City, Kansas, with his parents and siblings. The family had come to enjoy a summer day together, and Caleb and his brothers were preparing to ride Verrückt, an enormous waterslide that had become famous around the world.
Before the ride began, Caleb shared a brief exchange with his father.
Scott Schwab later remembered telling his son, “Brothers stick together.”
Caleb’s answer was simple.
“I know, Dad.”
Those were the final words Scott would hear from his son.
