The helicopter rose smoothly into the warm coastal air, blades slicing through sunlight-dappled skies. Below, the ocean gleamed like turquoise glass, endless and flawless. The husband called it a surprise—a final romantic escape before the baby arrived, a celebration of new beginnings. His wife believed him.
She sat beside him, hand over her growing belly, the other gripping the seat. She laughed at his jokes, her voice barely audible over the rotor’s roar. To any onlooker, they were the perfect couple: affluent, radiant, poised for the future. But no one could see what had already been decided.
She wasn’t just wealthy. She was a billionaire, heir to a global tech empire built by her father. Every company, every account, every asset—she controlled it all. Publicly, her husband smiled beside her at galas, praising her intellect and independence. Privately, he seethed. Marriage hadn’t given him what he thought he deserved—and now, with a child on the way, it never would.
The thought consumed him. Every glance at her belly reminded him that the inheritance was for the child, not him. Questions about wills, guardianship, and asset transfers became obsessive. She noticed—and fear grew.
By the time the helicopter floated over open water, the husband had rehearsed his story for the police:
“She panicked. She lost her footing. I tried to grab her.”
