A Homeless Man Slept on Her Porch During a Storm—By Morning, He Had Left Her a Key and a Letter

When Martha opened her front door the morning after the storm, she expected to see Albert still sleeping beneath the quilt she had given him.

Instead, the porch was empty.

The blanket had been folded neatly on the doormat.

And beneath it was an envelope with her name written across the front.

The brass key was for that storage unit.

What Martha Found Inside

Forty minutes later, Martha stood outside the storage facility with Lily beside her.

Inside were old chairs, boxes of books, a sewing machine, photographs, family belongings, and decades of memories.

Then she found the small wooden box.
