When I arrived at my sister’s wedding, I didn’t expect to be placed at the farthest table in the room.
I’m a 32-year-old woman with a stable career and my own apartment, so being seated near the kitchen doors felt a little strange. The table was tucked away in a corner where waiters passed constantly, and the noise from the kitchen made conversations difficult.
At the table were a few distant relatives and one very talkative aunt who spent most of the evening offering life advice. The topic quickly turned to relationships and marriage, something that tends to come up at family gatherings.
