But it’s his tattoos that attract the most attention—unsurprising, considering he was inked from head to toe. Altogether, Ethan revealed he spent around $60,000 AUD (about $39,000 USD) on his appearance.
Now, however, he admits he has mixed feelings about some of those choices.
“I guess you could say I regret some tattoos,” he shared during an appearance on No Filter.
He clarified that it’s not always regret itself, but more about how he wants to be perceived now compared to before.
One of his biggest concerns today is how others might judge him during everyday moments—like when he’s taking his young daughter to school.
He explained that facial tattoos, in particular, can bring challenges and unwanted attention. Looking back, he says he wishes he hadn’t gone so far with the ink on his face.
To move forward, Ethan has begun trying to reverse some of his earlier work. He’s been undergoing laser removal treatments for about a year, gradually fading the tattoos he once chose.

He described the process as long and painful, with multiple sessions needed to treat different sections of his face. Still, he says the change has helped ease some of the anxiety he had been feeling.
He noted that mental health can be complicated, but believes his heavily tattooed face contributed to some of his stress.
Even so, he says he’s content with who he is—and also hopeful about the future. Over time, as the tattoos fade, he sees it as starting fresh and “clearing the canvas.”
