Tributes poured in from across the nation. Former President Donald Trump praised Jackson on Truth Social, calling him a “good man” and highlighting his contributions to criminal justice reform, HBCUs, and economic initiatives for Black communities. Trump also controversially claimed Jackson “could not stand” Barack Obama, though neither Obama nor Jackson’s family have publicly responded.
