Donald Trump Speaks Out on the Search for Savannah Guthrie’s Mother

The disappearance of TODAY show host Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy, has drawn national attention—and now President Donald Trump has weighed in. Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, February 3, Trump called the case “terrible” and said he plans to reach out to Guthrie personally.

Nancy Guthrie went missing from her Catalina Foothills home, north of Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday, January 3. Authorities are treating the case as a criminal investigation after discovering signs of possible forced entry and blood at the residence.

“At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said. “We have an 84-year-old woman who went to bed Saturday night and came Sunday morning—she’s gone. We believe she did not leave on her own.”

Trump said he intends to call Savannah Guthrie soon and offered federal support to Arizona law enforcement in the search. “I think it’s terrible,” he told reporters. “Very unusual situation, but we’re going to find out.”

Sheriff Nanos emphasized the urgency of the case, noting that Nancy relies on essential medications and suffers from other health challenges. “We don’t need another tragic ending. We need help from anyone with information,” he said.
