Erika Kirk captured national attention during President Donald Trump’s historic State of the Union address, and not just because cameras focused on her when he mentioned her late husband, Charlie Kirk.
On February 24, 2026, Trump delivered the longest State of the Union in U.S. history, holding a divided Congress—and tens of millions of viewers at home—captive for nearly two hours. The 79-year-old president praised Republican achievements, criticized Democrats, outlined bold future plans, and highlighted faith and religion as central pillars of his administration.
“I’m very proud to say that during my time in office, both the first four years and particularly this last year, there has been a tremendous renewal in religion, faith, Christianity, and belief in God,” Trump said. “This is especially true among young people, and a big part of that had to do with my great friend Charlie Kirk, great guy.”

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was tragically shot on September 10, 2025, while speaking at a TPUSA event in Utah. Weeks later, Erika Kirk became CEO of the organization, pledging to continue her husband’s work and mission.
