But in late 2022, viewers were suddenly confronted with his absence—an unexpected break that quickly turned into a serious health concern. What initially seemed like a short medical leave soon revealed a far more complex and alarming situation that required urgent and extensive treatment.
Roker was hospitalized after developing a blood clot in his leg that traveled to his lungs, a condition known as a pulmonary embolism.
