The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has taken a dramatic turn after the FBI released newly recovered surveillance images, and the spotlight is now on one unexpected detail: the suspect’s eyes.
FBI Director Kash Patel shared the images showing a masked, armed individual outside Nancy’s Tucson, Arizona, home in the early hours of February 1. The figure appears to be tampering with a video doorbell while wearing a balaclava, gloves, a zipped jacket, and a backpack. Federal officials explained that the footage was recovered from residual backend data after recording devices had reportedly been removed or disabled.
“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with private sector partners to recover any lost or corrupted footage,” Patel said. “This video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.”
Online sleuths quickly focused on the small portion of the face that’s visible — the eyes and eyebrows. Some speculated the arched brows and eye shape suggest a female suspect, while others noted the posture and gait might indicate a male. Law enforcement has not confirmed any details and urges the public to avoid assumptions and report credible tips directly to authorities.
