The day my son Henry was born should have been the happiest of my life. I was in a hospital bed, holding him close, still overwhelmed by the reality of becoming a mother. Then a doctor walked in and gently explained that Henry would face physical challenges and need ongoing care, therapy, and support.

I was still trying to process it all when everything changed.

My husband didn’t react with questions or concern. He stood quietly, distant, as if the moment didn’t belong to him. Then he said words I’ll never forget—he wasn’t ready for this life. And just like that, he walked out.
