Hospital Shooting Prompts Lockdown at Michigan Medical Center
Police urged residents to avoid the area surrounding Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital after a shooting was reported early Thursday morning, triggering a major emergency response and temporary lockdown at the facility.
Authorities said the incident began around 7:08 a.m., with initial reports pointing to the hospital parking garage as the location where the shooting first occurred. Officers, medical teams, and emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene as hospital staff activated safety procedures to protect patients, visitors, and employees.
Investigators later confirmed that both the suspect and the victim worked at the hospital.
The injured employee, identified as a 25-year-old coworker, was rushed to the emergency department for treatment. Hospital officials later stated that the victim was stabilized and is expected to recover.
At this stage, investigators have not publicly shared what may have led to the shooting or whether there were prior disputes between the individuals involved.
