House Committee Advances Contempt Proceedings Against Clintons in Epstein Inquiry

A Republican-led committee in the U.S. House of Representatives has voted to advance contempt of Congress resolutions against former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after the couple declined to testify in person as part of a congressional inquiry related to Jeffrey Epstein.

The House Oversight Committee approved the measures following its determination that the Clintons did not comply with subpoenas requesting their appearance before the panel. The investigation is focused on how federal authorities handled earlier inquiries into Epstein, the financier who died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.
