At first, many assumed it was a one-off issue or a temporary supply problem.
But a deeper review of the supply chain has revealed a more complicated situation.
According to industry reports, some third-party distributors—separate from the supermarkets themselves—have been blending lower-grade imported meat with higher-quality cuts. The goal? Reduce costs while maintaining the appearance of premium products. In many cases, packaging and labeling remained unchanged, giving shoppers the impression they were purchasing the same quality they always had.
