Kenny Rogers Fathered Twins Later in Life—They Were 15 When He Passed

Kenny experimented with different styles before finding his true home in country. In 1977, he released Lucille, a ballad that became an instant classic and earned him his first Grammy. Producer Larry Butler remembered the uncertainty before the song’s release: “We both really felt this was gonna be a major country record. We didn’t dream it would be what it ended up being.” The success of Lucille was followed by another timeless hit, The Gambler, cementing Kenny’s place in music history.

Kenny’s collaborations were just as iconic. His duets with Dolly Parton, including the 1983 smash Islands in the Stream, captured hearts worldwide. Dolly paid tribute after his passing: “You never know how much you love somebody until they’re gone… I loved him as a wonderful man and a true friend.” Friends, fans, and colleagues alike remembered Kenny as a genuinely kind and generous man.

While Kenny married five times, he always insisted on love and respect. “Every woman I married, I really loved… I blame myself and my chosen field of music. That’s why I say that music is a mistress,” he once said. His last marriage to Wanda Miller, 28 years his junior, brought him three children, including twins Jordan and Justin, born when Kenny was 66.

Family was always Kenny’s priority. After retiring in 2015, he focused on spending time with his sons, even coming out of retirement briefly for The Gambler’s Last Deal tour to create memories with them. “I hope my fans understand that I’m a father first and a singer second… I don’t want to miss it,” he said.

Kenny’s career achievements were immense. He released 65 albums, sold over 165 million records, and earned three Grammy Awards. Beyond music, he built the legendary Beaver Dam Farm in Georgia, a 973-acre estate with a mansion, golf course, fishing lakes, tennis courts, swimming pools, guest houses, and an equestrian center—a testament to his larger-than-life personality.

In his final years, Kenny’s focus was simple: family, love, and leaving a legacy of memories. He prepared for his passing quietly, spending precious time with his children and saying goodbye to his lifelong friend Dolly Parton.

Kenny Rogers passed away on March 20, 2020, leaving a musical and personal legacy that will inspire generations. He was more than a singer—he was a storyteller, a friend, a father, and a legend.
