What Sparked the Recall?
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Utz Quality Foods has recalled select potato chip varieties sold under the Zapp’s and Dirty brand names. The issue traces back to a seasoning blend containing dry milk powder supplied by a third-party vendor.
While the ingredient tested negative for Salmonella before being used, the company initiated the recall as a precautionary measure after receiving updated supplier information suggesting potential contamination risk.
Officials emphasized that the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution,” prioritizing consumer safety even though no illnesses have been reported so far.
