Authorities have arrested a man in connection with threatening messages sent to the family of a missing Arizona woman, raising concerns during an already distressing search for answers.
The messages reportedly arrived shortly after the family of Nancy Guthrie made a public appeal for help locating her. According to investigators, the communications included language that alarmed relatives and prompted them to contact law enforcement immediately.
Court records identify the suspect as Derrick Callella, a man in his mid-40s who was detained in California. Authorities say the messages were sent across state lines and referenced cryptocurrency, which raised fears of potential extortion. Investigators also confirmed that a brief phone call was made to another family member around the same time.
