Pop star Britney Spears was reportedly detained by authorities in California on Wednesday evening following a traffic stop in Ventura County.
According to reports, officers from the California Highway Patrol stopped the 44-year-old singer around 9:28 p.m. local time. The stop reportedly led to her being taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Sources cited by TMZ say Spears was later booked in the early morning hours and released a few hours afterward. Officials have not publicly confirmed further details, and representatives for the singer have not yet issued a statement regarding the situation.
