“Happy hour?” another asked. “But… drinks are already ten cents!”
The bartender nodded. “Exactly.”
There was a long pause… and then the realization hit.
One of the men nearly choked on his martini. Another slapped the bar and burst out laughing.
“Now that,” he said, wiping his eyes, “is the cheapest thinking I’ve ever seen.”
Just then, one of the men from the other end of the bar shouted over:
“Hey! It’s going down to five cents, right?!”
The bartender didn’t even turn around.
“Nope.”
Another pause.
“…We’ll wait,” the man replied confidently.
The entire bar erupted in laughter.
The four friends shook their heads, still chuckling.
“Guess some habits don’t retire,” one of them said.
The bartender grinned as he polished a glass.
“Not even for ten cents.”
