When my phone rang that evening, I expected confusion, concern, or perhaps an awkward explanation. Instead, the voice on the other end carried something entirely different.
Warmth.
Gratitude.
And a story I had never heard before.
Madison spoke calmly, her words measured and sincere. She assured me that Nathan was having an incredible time at the dance. He was out on the floor laughing, talking, and enjoying himself in a way I rarely saw. For so long, I had worried about whether he truly felt accepted by his peers.
