The Salesman Chose the Young Buyer—But the Elderly Couple Had the Last Laugh

The salesman gave an awkward laugh, clearly unsure whether he had just gotten himself into serious trouble.

The old woman stepped forward, her voice calm and steady.
“You’re right,” she said, glancing over at the young buyer. “She is very impressive.”

The salesman nodded quickly. “Exactly! You understand.”

“Oh, I do,” she replied with a polite smile. “Which is why we’ll take two cars.”

The salesman blinked. “Two?”

“Yes,” she said. “One for me, and one for my husband.”

The old man raised an eyebrow, playing along. “At the same price you gave her, of course.”

The salesman hesitated. “Well, I—uh—”

The woman leaned in slightly. “After all, we have the money ready. No financing needed.”

The old man added, “And unlike her, we’re not asking for a discount… we’re expecting one.”

The salesman swallowed hard.

“Also,” the woman continued, “we were planning to recommend this dealership to several of our friends at the retirement community. Quite a large group, actually.”

The salesman’s expression changed instantly.

“Oh! Well in that case, I’m sure we can work something out!”

Within minutes, paperwork was flying, calculators were clicking, and the salesman was offering deals he hadn’t even considered before.

As they finished signing, the old man leaned toward the salesman and said with a grin:

“Son, next time remember… charm might close one deal…”

He paused, then gestured toward his wife.

“But experience closes the rest.”

The couple walked out together, keys in hand, while the salesman stood there, shaking his head.

From across the showroom, the young woman watched them leave and muttered,

“I should’ve brought my grandma.”
