The truck stop diner was quiet except for the hum of conversation, clinking coffee cups, and the occasional sound of tires rolling across the highway outside.
Near the back window sat an older man eating dinner alone. He wore a faded work jacket, old boots, and a weathered cap pulled low over his eyes. Nothing about him stood out — just another traveler stopping for a warm meal after a long day on the road.
Then the front doors swung open.
