Trump’s “Operation Epic Fury” Draws Mockery Online as Iran Conflict Escalates

While the operation itself is a serious military campaign, social media users have zeroed in on the name—“Epic Fury”—labeling it childish, embarrassing, and even comical.

One user wrote, “Is it just me or does ‘Epic Fury’ sound like a Marvel movie title?” Another added, “In all of U.S. military history, is there a more ridiculous name for an operation? Sounds like a bad action movie sequel.”

Even some conservative voices, like former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, have criticized the branding, questioning its seriousness in the context of real-world conflict.

The Administration Responds

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth defended the operation, calling it “laser-focused” and “the most lethal, most complex, and most precise aerial operation in history.”

He described Iran as waging a “savage, one-sided war” against the U.S. for over forty years, citing attacks like the Beirut barracks bombing, rocket strikes on U.S. vessels, embassy killings, and roadside bombs targeting American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hegseth emphasized: “We didn’t start this war, but under President Trump, we are finishing it.”
