Beauty, grace, and service
A decorated beauty queen, Andrea won five titles, including Miss West Coast, Miss Nuestra Belleza USA, Miss Fresno County, Miss Regional West, and Miss California Congeniality. But those crowns were never her true priority. Inspired by a young boy she met undergoing chemotherapy, Andrea and Wilson founded Not All Heroes Wear Capes, a program dedicated to bringing smiles and hope to hospitalized children. They visited hospitals dressed as superheroes, delivering gifts, laughter, and encouragement during unimaginable hardship.
“This work was one of the most rewarding things of her life,” Wilson said. “She loved putting smiles on families’ faces during difficult times.”

Battling bravely
Although Andrea achieved remission at one point, the cancer eventually returned, advancing to stage IV. Her health declined sharply in October, and she spent her final holidays surrounded by loved ones before being hospitalized shortly after Christmas. Throughout her journey, she remained courageous and committed to life and family.
Andrea’s battle began at just 26, when severe abdominal pain and heavy bleeding led to an emergency hospital visit in Mexico. She had lost three pints of blood and was initially told survival was uncertain. Thanks to her family’s quick action and the support of donors, she received life-saving transfusions, leading to her diagnosis of stage III colon cancer.
During treatment, she drew strength from the words of her aunt: “God gives his toughest battles to his strongest warriors.” Today, that phrase is engraved on the chemotherapy bell Andrea donated to a Fresno cancer center, symbolizing triumph for every patient who rings it.

Enduring impact
Andrea is survived by her husband, parents, and three brothers. Her fight may be over, but her courage, kindness, and inspiration will continue to resonate for years to come. She lived fully, loved deeply, and showed the world what it means to face life’s toughest battles with grace and heart.
