Finding a dark or purple spot on your child’s foot can be worrying, especially when it appears suddenly or seems painful. While some skin changes may look alarming, many are caused by minor injuries, friction, or pressure and improve with simple care. One common possibility is a blood blister.
A blood blister can develop when small blood vessels beneath the skin are damaged by pressure, friction, or minor trauma. Instead of forming a typical clear blister, the area may contain blood, giving it a red, purple, or dark appearance. The skin may also look slightly raised or swollen and can feel tender to the touch.
