For years, researchers have used GPS tracking devices to learn more about how birds move through their environments. These small devices can provide valuable information about migration, feeding areas, seasonal movements, and the challenges birds face in the wild.
One tracked eagle became particularly interesting to researchers because its movements did not appear to follow a simple or predictable route.
Instead of traveling along a single, consistent path, the bird moved through different areas at different times. Its recorded journeys included long-distance movements, periods of returning to familiar locations, and changes in direction that were difficult to understand at first.
