I Stepped Outside at Dawn—Then I Discovered Something I Couldn’t Explain

Early one morning, I stepped outside to enjoy some fresh air when something unusual moving across the damp ground immediately caught my attention.

At first, I assumed it was an earthworm. But the closer I looked, the less certain I became.

The creature was long and dark, with a glossy body marked by faint lines. Instead of wriggling through the soil like a typical earthworm, it moved smoothly across the surface in a slow, deliberate motion.

Then I noticed its head.

It was broad, flat, and oddly shaped, almost resembling a tiny shovel.

That unusual feature made me stop and take a closer look. I had seen plenty of worms and other small creatures outdoors, but this animal looked distinctly different.

A Strange Movement Caught My Attention

The creature moved calmly from side to side, appearing to search the damp soil as it traveled.

There was no sudden movement or obvious sign of aggression. Still, because I wasn’t certain what I was looking at, I decided not to touch it.

Instead, I kept a safe distance and watched.
