Why Cloves Are Often Used in DIY Pest Sprays
Cloves are known for their powerful scent, which comes partly from a compound called eugenol. Eugenol has been studied in laboratory settings for several biological properties, including activity involving some insects and microorganisms.
That does not mean a homemade spray is a guaranteed pest-control solution. However, many insects rely on scent trails, moisture, food residue, and environmental cues. A strong unfamiliar aroma may make certain areas less inviting when paired with regular cleaning and sealing of entry points.
