Her Cat Kept Waking Her at Night, Then a Vet Asked One Question

Anna thought her cat, Luna, had developed a frustrating new habit. Night after night, the gray cat would wake her, paw at her face, scratch at the bedding, and refuse to settle until Anna finally left the bedroom. What first looked like ordinary feline mischief slowly became something much harder to ignore.

During the day, Luna seemed perfectly normal. She was calm, affectionate, and alert, with no obvious signs of pain, fear, or illness. But once Anna was asleep, the pattern returned with unsettling consistency.

At first, Luna’s attempts were gentle. A paw on Anna’s cheek. A nudge. A quiet insistence that she wake up. When Anna tried to ignore it, Luna became more forceful, scratching at the blanket and occasionally giving a light bite.

Anna tried the usual fixes. She adjusted feeding times, changed routines, and even tried closing the bedroom door. Nothing worked. The strangest part was what happened when Anna gave in and moved to the living room couch. Luna would immediately calm down, return to the bed, and sleep peacefully until morning.
