A young woman has shared a deeply personal account of how her first sexual experience ended not with awkward memories, but with a frightening hospital visit, heavy bleeding, and a lesson she says no one had properly prepared her for.
She was in her late teens at the time and dating a boy who had booked a hotel room. She says she had not expected to have sex that day and felt anxious before anything happened. Looking back, she believes her nerves, lack of preparation, and absence of proper foreplay all played a role in what followed.
During intercourse, she felt a sharp pain and quickly realized something was wrong. The bleeding was far heavier than she expected and did not resemble a normal period. It spread across the bed and carpet, leaving her scared, embarrassed, and unsure of what to do next.
She tried using sanitary pads, but after going through several with no sign of the bleeding slowing, she called the NHS 111 helpline. Staff asked whether the sex had been consensual and advised her to go to a walk-in centre.
