The Clever Head Nurse
In another hospital room, a well-known attorney had been admitted for a few days—and he quickly earned a reputation.
He constantly complained, gave orders to the staff, and treated everyone as if they worked for him personally. Most of the nurses tried to avoid him whenever possible.
Except the head nurse.
She had a reputation of her own: calm, confident, and not easily intimidated.
One afternoon, she walked into his room and said, “I need to take your temperature.”
The attorney grumbled loudly and complained for several minutes before finally cooperating.
After setting things up, the nurse said firmly, “Please stay exactly like that while I step out for a moment.”
Then she walked out of the room… leaving the door open.
The attorney stayed there, growing more uncomfortable as people passed by the hallway and glanced in curiously.
Nearly twenty minutes later, the doctor walked in, looking puzzled.
“What’s going on here?” he asked.
The embarrassed attorney snapped, “What? Haven’t you ever seen someone getting their temperature checked?”
The doctor raised an eyebrow and replied calmly:
“Not with a daffodil.”
The attorney stared in confusion as the doctor walked away—while somewhere down the hall, the head nurse was likely smiling.
