More than two years after the heartbreaking loss of five-year-old April Jones, her parents continue living with the emotional weight of a tragedy that shocked the nation.
Now, April’s mother, Coral Jones, has revealed that she could not bring herself to read the deeply personal book she and her husband published about their painful experience.
The book, titled April, documents the devastating days following their daughter’s disappearance, the massive search effort that followed, and the eventual trial of her killer.
A Story Too Painful to Relive
April Jones disappeared from outside her home in Machynlleth before authorities later confirmed she had been abducted and murdered by Mark Bridger, who received a whole-life prison sentence for the crime.
The case deeply affected communities across the United Kingdom, with thousands joining search efforts and following developments closely as the tragedy unfolded.
Although Coral and her husband, Paul Jones, later decided to share their experience publicly through a book, Coral admitted she has “refused” to actually read it herself.
Speaking during an appearance on the ITV program This Morning, she explained that revisiting those memories remains emotionally overwhelming.
A Diary That Became a Book
According to the family, much of the book was based on diary entries Paul Jones kept during the ordeal.
