While the exact cause of her hair loss is still unknown, specialists suspect a rare autoimmune condition. Parasites, mange, and fungal infections were ruled out, and her skin appeared healthy—remarkable for a wild animal exposed to freezing temperatures.
Even more amazing was her personality. Swinimer described Rufus as “feisty,” noting that she quickly recovered after arriving at the shelter. Her survival was a testament to her resilience and determination.
