In October of last year, Thomson received a lifetime achievement award from the Radio Television Digital News Association of Canada in recognition of her lasting contributions to journalism. During the presentation, then-president Lis Travers described her as one of Canada’s most respected news personalities.
Richard Gray, vice-president of news at Bell Media, also shared a tribute, calling Thomson “a trusted voice and a valued teammate” whose professionalism and warmth left a lasting impact on colleagues and viewers alike.
Colleagues, friends, and viewers across the country have expressed their condolences, remembering her not only for her professionalism on air, but also for her compassion, integrity, and dedication to telling important stories.
