A delivery driver detained in connection with the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of TODAY co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been released after several hours in police custody.
36-year-old Carlos Palazuelos was picked up by law enforcement on February 10 while driving in Arizona. The search for Nancy, who has been missing for 11 days, has remained active, with authorities pursuing multiple leads. Despite initial suspicion, Palazuelos was released without charge.
Speaking outside his home after being freed, Palazuelos protested his innocence and lack of knowledge about the case. “They held me against my will. They didn’t even read me my rights until two hours later,” he said. “What the f**k am I doing here? I didn’t do anything. To be honest, I’m innocent.”
Investigators had reportedly questioned Palazuelos about a possible delivery to Nancy’s home on February 1, the same day she is believed to have disappeared. He insisted he had no connection to Nancy or her family. “I hope they get the suspect because I’m not it,” he said. “They better do their job and find the person who did this so they can clear my name. I’m done.”
