Friends Express Concern for Savannah Guthrie After Recently Released Video

The search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, continues with urgency as the 84-year-old has now been missing for over two weeks. Savannah, who has put her work on hold, issued a heartfelt plea Monday to anyone with information, calling on the “essential goodness of every human being” to help bring her mother home safely.

Authorities believe a masked individual captured on a Ring camera at Nancy’s Tucson, Arizona, residence is a key person of interest. Investigators also recovered a glove two miles from her home, potentially linked to the suspect, but DNA tested through the FBI’s CODIS system did not yield a match. Officials now plan to expand their search to commercial genealogy databases in hopes of finding a lead. Additional DNA collected from Nancy’s home is still being analyzed.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos emphasized that the case is far from cold, noting that 400 investigators are actively pursuing thousands of tips and leads. “As long as we have the ability to chase a lead, it’s not cold,” Nanos said. He made a direct appeal to the suspect, urging, “Just let her go. Take her to a park. Take her to the hospital. Just let her go. It will work out better for you in the long run.”

Nanos remains cautiously optimistic, framing the ongoing effort as a rescue operation. “You have no proof, nobody does, that she’s not alive,” he said. “Sometimes that hope is all we have.”
