Hollywood icon Whoopi Goldberg is setting the record straight after shocking online claims suggested she once dated the late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. The 70-year-old addressed the rumors during a recent episode of The View, where her name appeared in newly released court documents.
Goldberg clarified that her inclusion in the files has been wildly misinterpreted. “In the name of transparency, my name is in the files. Yes. And what does it say? It says ‘Whoopi needs a plane to get to Monaco …’” she explained.
She made it clear there was no romantic or social connection with Epstein. “I wasn’t his girlfriend, I wasn’t his friend,” Goldberg stated firmly.
The reference in question stemmed from a 2013 email regarding a charity event in Monaco run by Julian Lennon. The note simply asked if Epstein or an acquaintance might help arrange a private jet for Goldberg’s travel—though Goldberg never flew on Epstein’s plane. She also joked about her fear of flying during the discussion, adding a touch of humor to the serious topic.
Co-host Joy Behar summed it up, saying, “So in other words, anyone can be on this list.” Goldberg expressed frustration over the online speculation, noting that her personal relationships are well-known and public—so a hidden affair would have been impossible.
