In late December 2025, a widely shared video sparked national attention and political debate after raising questions about oversight of publicly funded childcare programs in Minnesota. The footage, published by independent content creator Nick Shirley, showed visits to several licensed childcare centers in and around Minneapolis that appeared inactive at the time of filming, despite records showing they had received funding through the state’s Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).
