The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bipartisan bill this week that would increase the annual pensions of Medal of Honor recipients fourfold. The legislation passed unanimously with a 424‑0 vote.
If approved by the Senate and signed into law, the bill would raise the annual pension from $16,880 to $67,500. Lawmakers supporting the measure, including Reps. Troy Nehls (R-TX) and Chris Pappas (D-NH), said the increase would help recipients cover expenses associated with public appearances, speaking engagements, and travel related to their roles as American heroes.
