JD Vance Responds After ICE Detains 5‑Year‑Old Boy in Minneapolis During Immigration Operation

Minnesota is reeling after reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained at least four children in the state, including a preschooler as young as five. The news has sparked outrage, fueled heated online debates, and drawn national attention.

Tensions escalated following the January 7 fatal shooting of Renee Good, a U.S. citizen and mother of three, during an encounter with ICE agents in Minneapolis. The incident, already controversial, was compounded by reports of ICE agents arresting local restaurant employees after having lunch at the same establishment earlier that day.

The case that caught the most attention involves five-year-old Liam Ramos, reportedly taken into custody on January 20 alongside his father after returning home from preschool. Superintendent Zena Stenvik of Liam’s school described the scene as traumatic, alleging that agents were “roaming our neighborhoods, circling our schools, following our buses, coming into our parking lots and taking our kids,” leaving the community “shaken” and children deeply affected.
