A normal visit to a friend’s house turned into a small mystery I couldn’t stop thinking about.

The day had been completely ordinary. We talked, laughed, caught up on old stories, and drank more coffee than we probably should have. Nothing felt unusual.

Then I went to the bathroom.

And there it was.

The toilet seat looked like it was missing a piece.

At first, I honestly thought it was broken. The front part of the seat was open, almost like someone had cut a section out and never replaced it. It looked unfinished, strange, and oddly noticeable once I saw it.

I stood there longer than I should have, staring at a toilet seat like it was some kind of puzzle.

Why would anyone buy one like that?

Was it damaged?

Was it a cheap replacement?

Was there a reason for the gap?

The more I looked at it, the more confused I became.

The Question Was Awkward, But I Had to Ask

After leaving the bathroom, I tried to ignore it.
