At first, it may look like decoration. Some people even joke online that it marks which side of the towel to use. The real reason is much more practical.
That line is called a dobby border, and it helps your towel stay stronger, flatter, and longer-lasting.
What Is a Dobby Border?
A dobby border is the woven band often found near the edge of towels. Unlike the soft, looped part of the towel that absorbs water, this section is usually flatter, tighter, and more structured.
