Recent sworn testimony from former President Bill Clinton has reignited public interest in former President Donald Trump’s past connection with financier Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking before the House Oversight Committee, Clinton shared details of a private conversation he said he had with Trump years ago regarding Epstein—a revelation that adds a new layer to the ongoing debate over the timeline and nature of their association.

Conflicting Accounts Draw Attention

During his deposition, Clinton described Trump’s explanation for ending his relationship with Epstein, a version that appears to differ from the public statements Trump and his administration have given over the years. According to Clinton, Trump told him:

“You know, we had some great times together over the years, but we fell out all because of a real estate deal. I’m sorry it happened.”

Clinton clarified that Trump presented the split as a business dispute rather than a reaction to Epstein’s later criminal allegations.

Lawmakers’ reactions were split along partisan lines. Some Republican members noted that Clinton’s account did not suggest any wrongdoing by Trump, while Democratic lawmakers argued it raised additional questions about the circumstances behind the break.
